Newborn Photography in Portland
NATURAL AND TIMELRSS
Welcoming a new baby is such a tender, emotional season.
Everything feels soft, new, and fleeting. Those tiny details… the way they curl into your arms… the calm moments that pass far too quickly.
My newborn sessions are designed to capture this chapter in a simple, natural, and timeless way. No rushing, no pressure — just warm, gentle portraits of your baby and your family, created with soft natural light and a calm, minimalist approach.
These images become part of your story — a little legacy you’ll return to for years.
When to Book Your Newborn Session
I recommend booking anytime after 12 weeks of pregnancy, so I can reserve space around your due date.
The ideal time for your session is within 5–15 days after birth, when babies are sleepiest and settle easily.
If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected — don’t worry. Newborn dates shift often, and we’ll adjust as needed.
Older babies (3–8+ weeks) are also beautiful to photograph — we simply get more awake moments, which parents often love.
What to Wear
My studio wardrobe includes soft, neutral pieces in beige, cream, white, and warm brown tones — all chosen because they photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby and the connection you share.
You’re welcome to use anything from the wardrobe or bring outfits that feel like “you.”
I’ll help guide you toward combinations that look calm, cohesive, and timeless.
FAQs
-
It’s ideal to schedule the session within the first two weeks of the baby’s arrival. This is when newborns are sleepier and more flexible for posing. I can do newborns up to 5 weeks of age, even older. But to get the sleepy shots it is best sooner than later.
-
I do. I know how life is getting more expensive these days. So I can split your payments in 2, 3 or 4 instalments. As long as the full amount is received by the time we do the session.
-
A newborn session usually takes around 2-3 hours. When siblings are involved the process can take longer.
-
I recommend solid light colors and natural fabrics. It’s best to avoid bright white; however, off-white works great. I also have adorable dresses for moms, knits and wraps available for your newborn.
-
You can expect to receive your gallery approximately a week after the session. Yes, I deliver edited photos very quickly.
-
Yes, definitely. The session includes individual images of your baby, as well as photos with siblings, parents, and the entire family if desired. It can also be a baby-only session.
-
It’s completely normal for newborns to be fussy at times. If your baby needs a break or a feeding, we can pause the session to ensure their comfort. Patience is key, and I’ll work at your baby’s pace to capture beautiful moments.
