Newborn Photographer in Vancouver, Washington
If you are in Vancouver, Washington and expecting a baby, a calm studio session is one drive across the river away. My studio is in the Sylvan Highlands neighborhood of Southwest Portland — about a 30–40 minute drive south from most Vancouver, WA neighborhoods, over the I-5 bridge and west on Highway 26. Yes, this is Vancouver, Washington, just across the river from Portland — not Vancouver, BC. No passport, no border crossing, just a short drive south. Many Vancouver families make the trip because the session itself is so easy: everything is ready when you arrive, and you go home with timeless portraits without turning your house into a studio for the day.
Newborn sessions here are baby-led and unhurried. I provide all the wraps, blankets, and simple outfits for your baby, plus a curated client wardrobe for moms — so you can simply bring your baby and rest while I take care of the rest.
How far is the studio from Vancouver, Washington?
About 30–40 minutes, depending on where in Vancouver, WA you are and on traffic. The usual route is south on I-5 across the Columbia River, then west on Highway 26 toward Sylvan Highlands. Parking is available at the building, so you will not be circling the block with a newborn in the car.
What is the best time to make the drive?
Leave extra time if your session falls near rush hour — the I-5 bridge is the one stretch where traffic can add up. Morning sessions usually mean a smoother drive south, and we plan the start time with that in mind so you arrive unhurried, with time to feed and settle your baby before we begin.
When should I book a newborn session?
The best time to reach out is during your second trimester — that way we can hold a tentative date around your due date. For those sleepy, curled-up portraits, I typically schedule sessions within the first 5 to 15 days after birth. If your baby is already here and you have not booked yet, do not worry — my sessions are baby-led, and I can capture beautiful images at any age. Just send me a message and we will find a date.
What happens at a newborn session?
Newborn sessions last around 2 hours, and we simply follow your baby's pace — with plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and cuddles. I use soft, neutral tones and gentle, baby-led posing to capture natural, timeless images. Parents and siblings are always welcome to join for a few family portraits — those are often the most cherished images of all. Your full, hand-edited gallery arrives via a private online link within about a week.
Why drive across the river for a studio session?
An at-home session sounds simpler, but it asks a lot of you in the first weeks: clearing a room, chasing the light, and hoping the weather cooperates. The studio is warm, calm, and fully equipped — soft, consistent light, cozy blankets, and everything your baby needs in one place. One drive, and the whole session is taken care of. You just arrive, settle in, and enjoy watching your baby be photographed.
Do you offer maternity sessions for Vancouver, Washington moms?
Yes. Maternity sessions are best booked between 28 and 36 weeks, ideally around 30–34 weeks. Many Vancouver families book the maternity + newborn bundle, so both chapters of the story are captured in the same calm style — and both trips are planned around easy drive times. You can see current pricing here.
What should I bring?
Almost nothing. I provide everything for your baby — wraps, blankets, and simple outfits — plus a curated client wardrobe for moms. You are welcome to bring anything personal, but you do not need to.
