Вот нестандартный, уверенный и немного дерзкий Styling Guide для твоих клиентов — с юмором, без пафоса, но с уважением к твоему опыту и их времени:
What to Wear (and What Not To)
A no-fluff guide to styling your family session
by someone who’s seen it all
Rule #1: You don’t need to be “fancy” — you need to feel like you.
If you’re uncomfortable, you’ll look uncomfortable.
If your kid’s shirt is scratchy, they’ll pull on it the entire session.
If your husband is wearing something he “hates but you made him wear,” guess what? We’ll all see it on his face.
So, wear clothes that fit, that you like, and that make you feel a little bit more polished than usual — but still like you.
Rule #2: Neutrals > Neon
Earthy tones, soft pastels, warm whites, cool greys, denim, beige — these look beautiful on camera and don’t fight for attention.
On the other hand:
Bright red: angry tomato.
Neon yellow: construction sign.
Busy logos: walking billboard.
Tiny patterns: camera’s worst nightmare.
Want a pop of color? Go for it! One piece is great. Not everyone, all at once.
Rule #3: Say yes to texture, layers, and movement
Knits, linen, gauzy dresses, loose button-downs — these photograph beautifully and add a little “something” to your images. Flowing fabrics move with the wind and light, and guess what? That looks like magic.
No stiff dress shirts, no sequins, and for the love of light — no sportswear unless we’re doing CrossFit family photos (we’re not).
Rule #4: Dress for the weather you’ll feel, not the calendar
Don’t wear a sundress in October just because Pinterest said so. If you’re freezing — your face will show it. Dress warm and in layers if it’s cold. I promise, cozy families snuggling under a blanket >>> teeth-chattering fake smiles.
For moms:
Dresses with movement are gold
High-waisted jeans + soft blouse? Yes.
If you’re nursing or postpartum, I’ll help you work around it — we’re not strangers to this.
For dads:
Fitted pants (yes, they matter)
Plain t-shirts or henleys look great
Button-downs? Only if they’re not stiff like cardboard
No baseball hats unless they’re part of your soul
For kids:
Comfort first.
Avoid scratchy or stiff fabrics.
Let them move, twirl, flop around — that’s where the best photos live.
Bonus: Avoid bright white socks (unless your goal is “middle school gym class” vibes).
Shoes? Keep them simple.
Boots, sandals, or barefoot — great.
Croc charms? Not so much.
One last thing — Coordinate, don’t clone
You’re a family, not a uniformed team. Mix tones, textures, and pieces that go well together, not match each other.
Need help? I’ve got you.
Send me your options, I’ll give you quick and honest feedback.
(Yes, I’ll tell you if that dress is giving “grandma’s couch.”)
This should feel fun, not stressful. We’re here to capture your people — as they are, but a little extra polished. No perfection needed.
Let’s make something beautiful.
